PROBATE of the Last Will and Testament of John Barnes.

In the Supreme Court Of VDL. Be it known unto all men by these records that on the sixteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty six the Last Will and Testament of John Barnes late of New Norfolk in VDL, farmer, deceased, a true copy whereof is above written and exhibited and proved before this Honourable Court and that administration of all and singular goods and chattels, rights, credits and effects of the said deceased in the Island of VDL and the Dependencies and is hereby committed to James Triffitt the younger of the Back River in VDL aforesaid farmer, the Executor in the said Will named, he having been duly xxxxx xxxxx and faithfully to perform the said Will by paying first the debts of the said deceased and those xxxxx therein bequeathed so far as is the estate shall thereunto  extend and the Law bind him and to make and exhibit unto this Honourable Court a true and perfect inventory of all and every xxxxx goods and chattels, rights, credits and effects of this of the said deceased on or before the sixteenth day of December now next coming? and to render a just and true account of his executorship when he shallbe lawfully exited thereunto. And further that he believes that the said goods and chattels, rights, credits and effects of or belonging to the said deceased at the time of his death did not exceed in value the sum of 500 pounds in VDL and the Dependencies thereof.

This is the Last Will and Testament of me John Barnes of New Norfolk in VDL made in manner and form following, that is to say I give devise and bequeath unto James Triffitt Junior of the Back River in the island of VDL aforesaid for his life. All and every my real and personal estate of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever the XXXXX maybe and at the death of the said James Triffitt then to come to Elizabeth Triffitt wife of the aforesaid James Triffitt and should the said James Triffitt and Elizabeth Triffitt die before my wife Martha Barnes then any real and personal Estate aforesaid to be enjoyed by her for her life but it is my particular request that my said wife should be provided for by the said James and Elizabeth Triffitt so long as they both may live and in case of my said wife Martha Barnes surviving the affore said James and Elizabeth Triffitt then it is my request that my said wife should enjoy my estate as aforesaid for her life and after the death of my said wife Martha Barnes aforesaid and the said james and Elizabeth triffitt aforesaid then it is my request that my said real and personal Estate should come to John triffitt, second son of the aforesaid James and Elizabeth Triffitt his heirs and XXXXX forever. And lastly I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint the said James Triffitt executor of this my will hereby revoking all former and other wills and codicils by me at any time heretofor made and I do declare this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and XXXXX this ninth day of May in the year of our lord 1835.

Impounded, AT the public pound, Green Valley, district of Hamilton, by Mr. James Triffit, of Emu Bottom, on the 24th December — 1 Chesnut horse, two hind feet white, small spot of white on the nose. Damages claimed £5. If the above animal be not claimed and redeemed within the time allowed by law, it will be sold by me at the said pound, on Wed nesday the 16th day of Jan. next, according to the provisions of the impounding act.
